Autism and developmental support

The same information, explained again, to someone else.

Family, school, therapists, respite, transport. More people are involved than in almost any other care situation, the routine matters more, and the coordinating goes on for decades. Family Observatory holds it so you do not have to.

Two family members share a calm moment together at home.

Why this is harder to coordinate than almost anything

More people, more handoffs

A parent, a school, a therapist, a respite worker, a grandparent. Every handoff is a place where something can be dropped, and usually is.

Transport is not optional

Many autistic children and adults cannot drive. Every appointment, session and programme needs somebody to take them and bring them back, for years.

Routine is not a preference

A transition that lands badly can cost the whole day. Knowing in advance who is doing the pickup is not admin, it is the thing that keeps the day intact.

It does not end at eighteen

This is a multi-decade responsibility and it usually falls on one parent. Systems built for a short crisis do not help here.

What the Coordinator does with all this

It treats a routine the same way it treats an appointment: something that has to happen, with somebody responsible for it. When a session needs a lift and nobody has taken it, it asks the person most likely to be free, without showing anyone else's calendar. When a handoff needs confirming, it asks for confirmation rather than assuming.

What it handles here

  • Routines and the transitions between them
  • Transport to school, programmes, therapy and back
  • School and programme events
  • Caregiver and respite handoffs, with the detail the next person needs
  • Appointments across several professionals
  • Communication updates, so the same thing is not explained four times
  • Family responsibilities, shared rather than assumed

Professionals can take part without taking over

A therapist, teacher or respite worker can be invited with a limited role, so they see what they need for their part and nothing else. The family decides who sees what.

What this is not

Family Observatory is a coordination service. It is not therapy, not clinical documentation, not a behaviour programme, and not a substitute for professional support. It does not diagnose anything and it does not advise on treatment. It coordinates the practical arrangements around the support you have already chosen.

Carrying this for years should not mean carrying it alone.

One membership. One Care Circle. Everyone who helps, included.
